Recently diagnosed with hypothyroid and put on Synthroid 50mcg.  Experiencing major shedding of hair.  Began bio-identical hormones in the last week or so and now I'm wondering if synthroid would need adjusting as I've read that estrogen is not "friendly" to the thyroid.

Hi, why not try Armour thyroid? T4 only drugs may cause hair loss and you may benefit from the full compliment of T1, T2, T3 and T4 &  Calcitonin in Armour.

Thyroid problems may influence the way your s*x hormones are being utilized.

I have been on Armour since OCT 07 ---after 25 years on T4 only medication..

T3 is the hormone your body uses, so if you are not converting the synthetic thyroid hormone T4 well, you may be deficient; hence the hair falling out etc.

We have a large GA Thyroid support group if you would like to join..
